남산 1호 터널은 우리나라 부실 민자사업 1호다. 통행료 60원을 받아 연간 4억5000만원을 벌어들인다는 것이 개발업체 ‘한신부동산’의 계산이었다. 하지만 하루 평균 2만 대가 통과한다는 수요 예측은 처음부터 엉터리였다. 터널이 개통된 1970년 서울시의 자동차는 6만 대에 불과했기 때문이다. 견디지 못한 한신부동산은 해체됐고, 터널은 서울시에 넘어갔다.내가 한 영작

ⓒ 60 won toll → a 60 won toll 여기서 ‘won’은 ‘-원의’ 통행료라는 뜻으로 toll을 꾸며주는 형용사 역할. 60 won toll 전체를 하나의 단수로 봐야 하기 때문에 a 60 won toll로 수정
ⓓ passed the tunnel. → passed through the tunnel 터널을 통과한다는 표현을 할 때에는 전치사 through를 같이 써야함.
ⓔ demanding forecasting → ambitious forecast 원래 ‘수요예측’을 뜻하는 단어는 ‘demand forecast’ 이며 여기에 ‘하루 평균 2만대를 통과한다’는 전제 자체가 수요를 뜻하므로 굳이 demand를 쓸 필요는 없음. 예측이 의욕적임을 나타내기 위해 형용사 ambitious 첨가

ⓒ digging many tunnels → by digging tunnels 콤마나 전치사 ‘by’ 없이 바로 현재분사가 오면 앞의 명사를 꾸며주는 역할로 오해할 수 있으므로 by digging tunnels로 수정. 수정 전의 의미는 ‘터널을 파면서’가 되는데 ‘by ?ing’을 사용하여 ‘터널을 팜으로써’의 의미로 고치면 자연스러움
ⓓ blasting rocks up → blasting through rocks ‘폭파시키다’라는 뜻의 ‘blast’는 타동사로도 쓰이기 때문에 전치사 없이 rocks가 와도 틀리지는 않지만 문맥상 바위를 뚫어서 통과할 터널을 만드는 것이기 때문에 through가 와야 정확한 표현이 됨
