Usain Bolt of Jamaica, the world’s fastest sprinter, will vie at a competition in Korea next month as a warm-up before next year’s World Championships, the event’s organizers said Monday.
The 23-year-old, who holds the 100-meter world record of 9.58 seconds, will compete at the Pre-Championships Meeting in Daegu, 302 kilometers (187.7 miles) south of Seoul, on May 19, before the World Championships in Athletics are held there in August 2011.
It will be his first visit to South Korea and his first race in Asia since he set three world records at the Beijing Summer Olympics in 2008.
