Jackson rehearsal footage nixed for doctor’s trial
Prosecutors wanted to show some 12 hours of unedited footage from the “This Is It” movie about Jackson in a bid to demonstrate that the “Thriller” singer was healthy and in good form before he died of a drug overdose in June 2009.
Attorneys for Dr. Conrad Murray, who is charged with being responsible for Jackson’s death after giving him a dose of the anesthetic propofol, are expected to argue at trial that “This Is It,” which was released after the pop star’s death, was not a true picture of his health in his final days.
Sony Pictures, the studio that released the documentary film, argued that showing the never-before-seen footage in a public court might hurt its potential commercial value. The studio said it screened more than 100 hours of footage for the attorneys and judge in the case.
Judge Michael Pastor made the ruling on Monday, concluding that it would not help the defense and that “it was a waste of my time.”

잭슨 주치의, 정식 재판서 무죄 항변
마이클 잭슨 사망사건과 관련, 과실치사 혐의로 정식 재판에 넘겨진 주치의 콘래드 머리가 25일 재판에서 무죄 주장을 굽히지 않았다.
주치의 머리는 이날 미국 로스앤젤레스(LA) 카운티 법원에서 열린 심리에 출석해 유죄를 인정하지 않고 "나는 무고한 사람이며, 따라서 무죄를 항변한다"고 밝혔다고 미 언론이 전했다.
머리의 변호인들은 이날 무죄 항변을 하면서 신속한 재판을 재판부에 요청했고, 재판 기일은 3월 28일로 정해졌다.
앞서 마이클 패스터 판사는 이달 초 검찰 측 증인 20여명의 증언을 청취한 예비심리에서 주치의 머리를 과실치사 혐의로 재판에 부칠만한 충분한 증거가 있다고 결정했다.
머리는 재판에서 유죄가 인정되면 최고 징역 4년형을 받을 수 있다.
머리는 2009년 6월 잭슨에게 만성적인 불면증에서 벗어나도록 프로포폴과 진정제를 투약한 후 그를 제대로 돌보지 않아 사망에 이르게 한 혐의를 받고 있으나 "잭슨을 사망하게 한 어떤 행동도 하지 않았다"며 혐의를 부인해왔다.
