Samsung opens media center for kids in HK

Samsung Electronics, Korea’s leading electronics maker, has built a digital media center for underprivileged children in Hong Kong in a move to give local children opportunities to experience new technologies, company officials said yesterday.

Samsung Electronics’ new digital media center was set up this week at the Tin Shui Wai Integrated Services Center operated by the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals.

The establishment of the center is part of Samsung’s global initiative called Hope for Children, which seeks to enhance child rates of computer literacy by providing new digital platforms.

Supported by some 50 volunteers, local children will be able to use the center, which is equipped with a total of 47 electronics products and a digital filmmaking studio.

Samsung officials said they hope they can expand similar services in different districts in Hong Kong.
