Singer hospitalized for panic attack
According to Kim’s management company, the singer has cancelled all upcoming shows in order to undergo treatment at a hospital in Ichon-dong, central Seoul.
“[On Monday], Kim Jang-hoon complained of heart palpitations and said that he couldn’t breathe properly so we cancelled all of his scheduled events and took him to the hospital,” a company official said yesterday.
The company added that the hospital has confirmed that the singer suffered a panic attack and said he was advised by doctors to stay at the hospital for at least a week.
Kim has previously revealed to the media that he has suffered from an anxiety disorder since he was a child. A patient with an anxiety disorder can suffer from recurring panic attacks.
With this, the singer, who has been a strong advocate for Korea in the Dokdo islet controversy, will also have to cancel his appearance at events related to Dokdo Day (Oct. 25), including a concert at a Dokdo music festival.

김장훈, 공황장애로 입원.."잠시 활동중단"
가수 김장훈이 공황장애 재발로 18일 오전 병원에 입원했다.
소속사인 공연세상은 이날 연합뉴스와 전화 통화에서 "김장훈 씨가 어제 행사 도중 가슴이 답답하고 숨을 쉴 수 없다고 호소해 스케줄을 중단하고 오늘 오전 병원에 입원했다"고 밝혔다.
소속사는 이어 "김장훈 씨는 최근 김희철과 발표한 신곡의 방송 활동과 독도 사진집 출간, 독도 페스티벌 준비, 다음 달부터 싸이와 함께 펼칠 `완타치` 공연 준비로 과로했다"며 "병원에서 안정을 취하기 위해 잠시 활동을 중단하고 건강 상황을 지켜보겠다"고 말했다.
김장훈은 어린 시절부터 공황장애를 앓아 꾸준히 병원 치료를 받아왔다. 공황장애는 예상치 못하게 나타나는 극단적 공포심으로 심장이 뛰고 가슴이 답답하다고 느끼는 증상이다.
그러나 김장훈은 다음 주 독도 관련 행사는 예정대로 진행하겠다는 뜻을 전했다.
소속사는 "김장훈 씨가 오는 25일 독도 사진집 출간과 강남구 역삼동 비주얼아트센터 `보다`에서 열릴 `독도 페스티벌` 관련 간담회는 진행할 계획"이라고 밝혔다.
