Rough patch for cabbages
A farmer on a tractor in Chuncheon, Gangwon, destroys a field of Napa cabbages yesterday as the price of the most popular vegetable for making kimchi saw its price plunge recently. Prices, when purchased directly from the farm, have plummeted from 1,500 won last year to around 450 won as farmers expanded their growing areas in 2011 to spur bumper harvests. Prices soared last year as unfavorable weather conditions restricted supply. [YONHAP]
