Insooni is unexpectedly eliminated from ‘I am a Singer’

Insooni has become the 10th contestant to be eliminated from the singing survival show “I am a Singer.”

On the show that aired on Dec. 11, the 54-year-old performed the song “Youth.” The show’s theme was Sanulrim, after the rock band, and the group’s lead singer, Kim Chang-hoon, was the guest of honor.

The highlight of the special-edition show was when T.O.P from Big Bang performed as a guest artist alongside singer Gummy. “Rascal,” the song performed by the two, won the second round of the contest.

Insooni was ranked fifth during the second round of the show but only made it to the seventh spot during the final round. Thus, the singer was eliminated.

The elimination came as a surprise as Insooni was one of the top performers on the show, and many assumed she would “graduate” to other opportunities rather than be eliminated. Singer Park Wan-kyu will replace Insooni on the show from Dec. 18.

Despite being forced to leave the show, Insooni received some good news in her personal life as her high school-aged daughter has been admitted to Stanford University in the United States. According to local media, the high-profile singer’s daughter received the acceptance on Dec. 10 and will study sociology and communications.
