Super Junior tops Yahoo search list
Korean band Super Junior has been crowned Asia’s top searched group artist by Yahoo, its fourth title related to search statistics.
At the annual ceremony held at the Hong Kong Convention Center, the boy band was awarded the top spot in three other categories including Korea’s most searched group artist, Taiwan’s most searched group artist and Hong Kong’s most searched group artist.
Other Korean celebrities to be awarded on the night were singer Kim Hyun-joong, who won the “Asia’s Top Buzz Single Artist” award as well claiming the same award in Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong. Actor Jang Keun-suk won the “Taiwan’s Top Searched Single Korean Artist” award.
The 2011 Yahoo! Asia Buzz Awards calculated Yahoo statistics from the past year. The event was streamed online through Yahoo Hong Kong and will be televised through Hong Kong’s TVB-Jade channel. On Dec. 7, the Korean idol group was also found to be the fourth-most-searched musical artist world-wide on Twitter, according to research conducted by a HootSuite company.
