People buy groceries at Banyeo Agricultural Wholesale Market in Busan’s Haeundae yesterday in order to prepare ancestral offerings for use during the Lunar New Year holiday, which extends from Jan. 22 to Jan 24. While retailers, including local discount store chains run by conglomerates, are offering holiday-themed goods at reduced prices, the government is encouraging customers to head to traditional markets to save money as economic conditions worsen.
