During Asian swing, FSC chief discusses cooperation

Korea’s financial watchdog said yesterday that its chief discussed how to promote cooperation with his counterparts in Vietnam and Indonesia during his recent visit to the Southeast Asian countries.

Kim Seok-dong, chairman of the Financial Services Commission (FSC), made a four-day visit to the two countries from Wednesday and met government and central bank officials there to discuss ways to promote cooperation in the financial sectors, according to the watchdog.

The FSC said that Vietnamese authorities have appealed for the financial watchdog to send officials to have a chance to share Korea’s experience in carrying out a corporate overhaul.

“Vietnam and Indonesia are major emerging countries in which Korean companies have invested. The government plans to support local companies’ and financial firms’ efforts to go global by enhancing cooperation in Asia,” the FSC said. Yonhap
