The team, which usually has 15 members, selected just eight of its best dancers for the battle against seven semifinalist teams from Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, Spain, Greece, Ukraine and Belgium. Fifty teams started the competition.

Jinjo also made history by becoming the first B-boy team to claim five major titles in the 30-year history of break dancing.

In the past four years, the team placed first in competitions in the United States, France and England before claiming this year’s title.

“There is no team that can stand on its own against the talents of Jinjo crew,” said Storm, a world-class B-boy performer who has a dance company in Berlin.

In its 17th year, the U.K. B-Boy Championships is one of the world’s best-known hip-hop events. Qualifiers take place worldwide, where dancers vie for the chance to represent their countries.
