For the first time in 62 years, a passenger train runs through the extended Gyeongwon line from Sintan-ri station to Baekmagoji station in Cheorwon, Gangwon. The 5.6 kilometer-long (3.5-mile) railway section had been closed since the outbreak of the 1950-53 Korean War on June 25, 1950. Baekmagoji station is now the northernmost point of South Korea’s Gyeongwon line. [YONHAP]
