Lee Kun-hee marks 25 years in top job at SamsungSamsung Chairman Lee Kun-hee celebrates 25 years in the job on the sidelines of the annual Samsung awards today at Hoam Art Hall in Sunhwa-dong, central Seoul.
Lee was appointed chairman at the age of 45 on Nov. 20, 1987, a day after his father and Samsung founder Lee Byung-chull passed away. An official inauguration event was held on Dec. 1. Since Dec. 1 falls on a Saturday this year, Samsung has advanced the celebration by a day. In past years, his inauguration has been celebrated at the Seocho headquarters in southern Seoul.
His families, as well as Samsung executives, will attend the event and Lee is scheduled to have dinner with awardees and key executives at Shilla Hotel in central Seoul in the evening.
