Sales of Galaxy S surpass 100 million, Samsung says

Samsung Electronics, the world’s leading smartphone and memory chip maker, said yesterday that it has sold more than 100 million units of its Galaxy S smartphones around the world in less than three years.

Samsung said sales of Galaxy S, Galaxy S2 and Galaxy S3 phones reached about 25 million, 40 million and 41 million units, respectively since their separate releases.

Samsung Electronics said that it sold more than 40 million Galaxy S3 devices in just seven months since their rollout in May, which means that about 190,000 units of the latest flagship model were sold each day.

“The success of the Galaxy S series is an achievement of Korea’s information and technology,” a Samsung spokesman said.
