FSC builds ties with its counterpart in Kazakhstan

Korea’s chief financial regulator has signed a memorandum of understanding with his Kazakh counterpart on the exchange of personnel and information on financial policy and regulations, the Financial Services Commission said yesterday.

FSC Chairman Kim Seok-dong signed the MOU with Gov. Gregory Marchenko of the National Bank of Kazakhstan Saturday, FSC said in a press release.

The FSC already has similar agreements with Mongolia, Turkey and Uzbekistan.

While in the central Asian country for four days until Saturday, Kim also met with Kazakh officials to agree on the launch of a joint study of the role of financial policy in the development of various industries in Kazakhstan.

They also agreed to will hold workshops and pursue joint projects with international organizations to explore the role of financial policies in the development of Kazakhstan.

Kim held meetings with Korean officials of financial institutions and businessmen operating there to discuss ways to help them settle down in the central Asian economy.
