KHNP submits bid to build a nuclear reactor in Finland
Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power Corporation (KHNP), Korea’s state-run nuclear plant operator, on Thursday submitted a bid for construction of a reactor in Finland.Teollisuuden Voima (TVO) plans to build a fourth reactor at Olkiluoto Nuclear Power Plant in west Finland, according to KHNP.
KHNP will compete with companies based in Japan, France and the United States.
TVO is projected to announce the winner within this year, according to KHNP.
“If Korea can be part of Finland’s nuclear reactor construction project, it is a chance to prove Korea’s advanced technology and safety on nuclear plant construction,” said KHNP. “It will also lead Korea to the European market, which accounts for about 40 percent of global nuclear market.”
