Representative Choi Kyung-hwan, the ruling Saenuri Party’s new floor leader, and Representative Jun Byung-hun, the opposition Democratic Party’s new floor leader, headed negotiations.
Leaders of the two parties will make speeches on June 4 and 5 to explain their stances on key issues. The June session will focus on approving a series of bills related to people’s livelihoods, the parties said yesterday.
Choi said the ruling party’s main agenda will be creating jobs, protecting the economically and socially underprivileged population, and political reform.
Jun said approving economic democratization bills and reforming politics and law enforcement authorities are the opposition party’s priorities.
In the June session, revisions of the Fair Trade Act, aimed at introducing a punitive compensation system and a class-action suit to reduce conglomerates’ abuse of economic power, are likely to be discussed.
