Daewoo E&C sees increases in first-half sales and profit

Daewoo Engineering & Construction said yesterday that its first-half sales and operating profit increased compared to a year ago, thanks to good sales in the housing market and overseas orders.
The nation’s leading builder said sales were 4.34 trillion won ($3.9 billion), up 14.1 percent from a year ago, while operating profit gained 9.9 percent on-year to 217.6 billion won.
For the second quarter, the company had sales of 2.3 trillion won for 5.4 percent year-on-year growth, and operating profit stood at 108 billion won, a 26.8 percent increase from a year ago.
The company said the revenue from building 23,082 housing units and winning 6.3 trillion worth of overseas orders last year is starting to show up on its balance sheet.
Daewoo E&C aims to have sales of 9.3 trillion won this year.
