Wheesung talks with fans

Singer Wheesung was discharged from his almost two-year-long military service in Nonsan, South Chungcheong yesterday.

“I don’t know what to say,” said the singer, after giving his fans and the media a military salute.

He then delivered an apology over the recent scandal concerning his use of the drug propofol. He had been accused of abusing the drug but was able to prove he only used it for legitimate medical reasons, to treat a problem with back pain.

“I wanted to complete my military service quietly, but I’m sorry that things got a little noisy,” he said. “I feel so bad for worrying my parents and fans.”

He also expressed his gratitude to officials at the Nonsan military base.

“I had the most difficult time in my life while I was on the military base,” he said. “I’m very thankful to the officials who treated me like any other soldier.”

He also implied that his comeback to the entertainment scene would come soon.

“I’m so happy that I can sing again and I will repay the fans with good songs rather than words.”

Wheesung, who served as a drill instructor in Nonsan, was discharged three days later than previously scheduled as he was caught using an unauthorized cell phone while he was in hospital being treated for his back pain.
