Building port in Qatar next on Hyundai’s agenda

Hyundai Engineering and Construction said yesterday said that it won a $300.82 million project from Qatar to build a port and related facilities after forming a consortium with the Middle East unit of Boskalis, a Netherlands-based company, and Brazilian firm OAS.

The nation’s top builder said that the consortium secured the order from Qatar’s New Port Project Steering Committee to build port facilities and an access channel at Qatar Economic Zone 3, which will be 25 kilometers (15.5 miles) south from Doha.

Hyundai E&C said that it will take 30 months to complete. The affiliate of Hyundai Motor Group said it will collect $186 million for its work.
