Trot singers head to U.S.

Trot singers Jang Yoon-jung and Park Hyun-bin are being honored by U.S. Representative Judy May Chu of California’s 27th Congressional district, said a spokesperson for Inwoo Entertainment, their agency.

The singers will receive a letter of thanks in September, as Jang and Park will be performing in the United States from Sept. 8 to 13.

The tour will take the singers to New York, Chicago and Los Angeles, where they will celebrate 110 years of Korean immigration to the United States as well as Chuseok, Korea’s fall harvest festival.

Chu is scheduled to visit their last concert and present the letter of thanks to the trot singers on Sept. 13 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

Both performers are considered representatives of the new wave of trot that rose to popularity in the middle of the last decade.

Park was the first trot singer to perform on KBS’s popular music show “Immortal Song.”
