Ko Young-wook asks for leniency

Entertainer Ko Young-wook, who was sentenced to five years in prison in April for sexually assaulting several teenage girls, has submitted another letter of apology to the appeals court, once again asking for a more lenient sentence.

Ko submitted his first letter of apology in June. The contents of the new letter are reportedly similar to the last one.

In addition to the prison term, the original sentence required Ko to register as a sex offender for seven years and wear a monitoring anklet for 10 years. He immediately appealed that court ruling.

“I’m regretful that I didn’t set a good model as a celebrity and hurt those teenagers,” he said in a previous public hearing at the appeals court last month, according to Ilgan Sports, an affiliate of the Korea JoongAng Daily.

“I want to say sorry to the victims and their families, and I’m sorry to my mom who became a sinner because of me,” he said.
