Hyundai Mobis surpasses 50 million air bags made
Hyundai Mobis, the nation’s leading auto parts maker, yesterday said its cumulative production of air bags surpassed 50 million since the company started manufacturing the safety device in 2002.The affiliate of Hyundai Motor Group reached the 10 million milestone in 2007 and then 20 million in 2009.
The company said the performance follows its effort to build its own airbag system technology with R&D investment.
Hyundai Mobis in 2009 moved its airbag plant from Cheonan, South Chungcheong, to Gimcheon, North Gyeongsang, to manufacture more air bags.
