Hyundai makes big donation to Community Chest of Korea

Hyundai Motor Group, the nation’s largest automaker, donated 25 billion won ($23.6 million) to Community Chest of Korea yesterday, becoming the first conglomerate to donate to the local charity’s campaign this year.

Hyundai Motor Group Vice Chairman Chung Eui-sun visited Community Chest of Korea’s headquarters in Seoul yesterday for a donation ceremony and said that the company will keep working to share with those in need, although the business environment is getting tough. The donation will be used in various areas to help low-income families.

Since 2003, the nation’s second-largest conglomerate has donated 134 billion won to the charity group. For the past three years, the group has increased its donation by 5 billion won annually. Meanwhile, the group recently donated $600,000 for relief efforts in the Philippines.
