EXO-M is on top in China
Boy group EXO is enjoying its heyday, particularly in China.
The 12-member K-pop group received the Best Group award, and its sub-unit, EXO-M, took home the Most Popular Group award at the 6th Top Chinese Music Billboard Newcomers Awards, held Friday at Renmin University of China in Beijing.
The Top Chinese Music Billboard Newcomers Awards is considered a prestigious ceremony. Music critic evaluations and fans’ votes determine who receives the awards, which are handed out across 21 categories.
This is the second year in a row EXO-M has received the most popular group award in China.
EXO-M - made up of six members from EXO - target the Chinese market.
EXO-M’s Kris, Luhan, Tao and Lay accepted the award in Beijing.
“It’s thanks to our fans that the EXO of today exists,” they acknowledged in their acceptance speech. “We wish to spend a happy 2014 together, and we will continue to show everyone a new and improved EXO.”
