Korea in quarterfinals of U-22 championshipThe U-22 Korean national football team advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2013 AFC U-22 Championship by overpowering the host country, Oman, with a score of 2-0.
The young Taegeuk Warriors took the lead in the 62nd minute with a header by Kim Kyung-jung, before going up 2-0 on midfielder Yoon Il-rok’s goal in the 80th minute. They qualified for the first group round match by finishing second place in Group A, with a record of two wins and a draw, which gave the team seven winning points.
Jordan had a 0-0 draw against Korea but won the group with a total of eight winning points.
Korea will face Syria, the winner of Group B, on Sunday.
