Disney’s ‘Frozen’ tops local box office

Last weekend, Disney’s 3-D animated film “Frozen” topped the local box office, knocking the Korean film “The Attorney” off the top spot for the first time in four weeks. “Frozen” took more than 1 million admissions from Friday to Sunday, according to the Korean Film Council, earning just over 8 billion won, or $7.5 million.

“The Attorney” had 510,000 admissions at the weekend to bring its 33-day total to nearly 10.2 million, making it the eighth-biggest Korean movie of all time.

The Hollywood blockbuster “Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit” had a weak debut in third with 210,000 admissions.

Another Korean movie, “The Suspect,” was fourth, while director Martin Scorsese’s “The Wolf of Wall Street” ranked fifth. The Korean film “The Plan Man” landed in sixth, while the thriller “Murderer” opened in ninth. Spike Lee’s remake of Park Chan-wook’s “Oldboy” opened in 17th.
