USC names Michael Kassner as Choong Hoon Cho Chair

The University of Southern California on Wednesday named Michael Kassner, a professor of aerospace and mechanical engineering, as Choong Hoon Cho Chair.

Cho Yang-ho, chairman of Hanjin Group, USC President Max Nikias, Yannis Yortsos, dean of the USC Viterbi School of Engineering and some 30 experts attended the ceremony.

The appointment commemorates the late Cho Choong-hoon, founder and former chairman of Hanjin Group, the parent of Korean Air, for his contribution to the aerospace and shipping industries. Kassner will have knowledge exchanges with entities in the Korean aerospace field, including Inha University, Korea Aerospace University and Korean Air.
