Sang-geun

Sang-geun, the famous canine celebrity from the KBS weekend entertainment show “One Night, Two Days,” passed away on Friday at 1 p.m., after a battle with cancer.

His cremation ceremony took place on Saturday in Gimpo, Gyeonggi, in the presence of his family and townspeople. The news surprised many people Saturday morning, as the dog was one of the most loved TV personalities in the Korean entertainment industry.

Sang-geun started appearing in the KBS travel reality show in 2007 with other regular hosts, and his signature looks soon earned him nationwide popularity. He went on to star in various television commercials and dramas.

“Thank you for all the support [you’ve given] to Sang-geun. I’m sure he would have been happy to see everyone,” said Lee Woong-jong,
Sang-geun’s owner, who runs a dog training school in Gyeonggi.

Lee added that he especially appreciated the kind words from comedian Ji Sang-ryul and the KBS production team, who all made personal phone calls to him to offer their deepest condolences.
