Subway train accident injures 200
Subway passengers evacuate a train via the tracks to Sangwangsimni Station yesterday in Seongdong District, eastern Seoul. An eastbound subway train rear-ended another train on line No. 2 yesterday afternoon at the station, leaving around 200 people injured. 서울 성동구 상왕십리역을 떠나 동쪽으로 향하던 서울메트로 지하철 2호선 전동차를 어제 오후 3시30분쯤 뒤따르던 다른 전동차가 추돌해, 두 전동차에 타고 있던 승객 2백여 명이 다쳤다.
The impact was so strong that the two passenger cars at the end of the lead train detached and derailed. More than 1,000 passengers from both trains had to open the car doors manually to walk out onto the platform, and others had to walk down the tracks.

충격이 너무 강해서 앞선 전동차의 후미 객차 2량이 탈선했다. 두 전동차에 타고 있던 승객 1천여 명은 손으로 객차 문을 열어 일부는 승강장으로 걸어 나와야 했고, 다른 승객들은 선로를 따라 걸어 나가야 했다.
Within minutes of the accident, dozens of ambulances were dispatched to the station, and more than 170 injured people were evacuated to 12 hospitals, according to Kim Gyeong-su, head of the Gwangjin Fire Station.

김경수 광진구 소방서장에 따르면, 사고 후 몇 분만에 구급차 수 십대가 지하철역으로 급파됐고, 다친 승객 170여 명은 12개 병원으로 후송됐다.
He added at a briefing later yesterday that more passengers could have been injured. Only those taken to hospitals by ambulance were counted among the injured. The confirmed number of wounded is expected to be around 200.

그는 어제 브리핑에서 다친 승객들이 더 많을 수 있다고 덧붙였다. 구급차에 실려 병원으로 후송된 승객들만 부상자로 집계됐다. 확인된 부상자 숫자는 2백여 명일 것으로 예상된다.
Subway authorities immediately stopped other nearby trains on line No. 2 that were headed in either direction. They later resumed the operations of westbound trains at a slower pace, while suspending eastbound trains along 10 stations from Euljiro 1(il)-ga Station to Seongsu Station.

지하철 관리당국은 즉시 사고 인근 양방향에 있던 지하철 2호선 전동차들의 운행을 중단시켰다. 이후 을지로1가역에서 성수역 사이 10개 역에서 동쪽 방향 전동차 운행을 중단시켰지만, 서쪽 방향 전동차는 느린 속도로 운행으로 재개했다.
