Local stars sign up for Global Gathering

Many local musicians have confirmed their performance slots for Global Gathering Korea, one of the most well-known electronic music festivals in the nation.

Idiotape, DJ Koo and Yann & Julian, along with 21 other groups, will play at the event, according to Fortune Entertainment, the music festival’s promoter.

The festival takes place on Oct. 4 at Jamsil Sports Complex, Songpa District, southern Seoul.

“Idiotape, which consists of three local DJs Dguru, Zeze and DR, has been making headway in Korea’s electronic music scene,” said the festival organizer.

The group was invited to perform at American pop singer Jason Mraz’s Seoul concert and also performed in a showcase arranged by veteran singer Cho Yong-pil to celebrate the release of his 19th album, “Hello.”

While DJ Koo, previously known as Koo Jun-yup of the 1990s group Clon, was invited after gaining more recognition overseas, Julian Quintart, a Belgium musician and entertainer of Yann & Julian, was chosen after he became better known in Korea’s entertainment scene through cable channel JTBC’s “Non Summit.” He had also worked as a DJ at trendy bars around Itaewon, central Seoul, before.
