Yoo Hee-yeol plans to leave ‘SNL’

Yoo Hee-yeol

Singer and entertainer Yoo Hee-yeol is leaving the comedy show “SNL Korea,” the “Saturday Night Live” version in Korea.

Yoo’s last appearance on the show will be Saturday, almost a year after he joined last September.

The comedian started as the host of a segment called “Weekend Update” but has recently been emceeing “People Update” as a solo host.

Yoo’s plan to leave is not a surprise, as the entertainer said on an episode aired early this month that he sometimes thinks about leaving the show.

“I have wondered several times whether or not SNL is a type of clothing that doesn’t fit me, or something that I cannot have,” he said.

Broadcaster tvN, which airs the show, says it will discuss how to change the segment.

It’s rumored that comedian Yoo Se-yoon, a host on cable channel JTBC’s “Witch Hunt,” will join the show to fill the empty spot.
