GG’s ‘The Boys’ hits 100M on YouTube

Three years after Girls’ Generation released their third full-length album, the music video for its title track, “The Boys” (2011), garnered 100 million views on YouTube yesterday morning.

The feat marks the third time a song by the group has reached such a record, after “Gee” (2009) and “I Got A Boy” (2013).

Another track from Girls’ Generation’s third album, “Mr. Taxi” (2011), is expected to be next on this list, because it has more than 90 million views so far.

Girls’ Generation’s last album came in February with the title track “Mr. Mr.” A subunit of the group, Taetiseo, released their second mini-album on Sept. 16, titled “Holler.”

Taetiseo is composed of three members from the original nine-member group: Tae-yeon, 25; Tiffany, 25; and Seo-hyun, 23.

Upon its release, the trio’s album reportedly topped iTunes charts in nine international regions - Cambodia, Brunei, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam and Taiwan - as well as popular local music charts like Daum Music and Naver Music.

The subgroup also led the Billboard World Albums chart yesterday.
