The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) said Monday that it has opened bidding for the right to produce the league’s official baseball, to be used from next year.
Baseballs from five different companies are currently used in the league, and there has been controversy over differences the balls’ coefficient of restitution, or the amount of “bounce” in each.
The KBO, which operates Korea’s professional baseball league, said any local baseball manufacturing company with annual sales of 100 million won ($89,486) over the last three years can participate. The bidding will run until 6 p.m. June 24.
