KBO picks manager for Premier 12 team

The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) said Monday that Kim In-sik, head of the KBO technical committee, will lead the Korean national baseball team for upcoming Premier 12 tournament in November.

Kim, 68, managed Korea to the gold medal at the 2002 Asian Games, the semifinals at the 2006 World Baseball Classic (WBC) and runner-up at the 2009 WBC.

The inaugural Premier 12, organized by the World Baseball Softball Confederation, will be played from Nov. 8-21 in Chinese Taipei and Japan. Korea is in Group B along with Japan, the United States, Dominican Republic, Venezuela and Mexico. The final roster of 28 will be announced Oct. 10.
