Hyosung’s chemical division to build first overseas facility
Electrical systems and parts provider Hyosung is building a production facility in China to produce the industrial gas nitron trifluoride (NF3), the company said on Monday. It will be the chemical division’s first overseas facility and will be located in Quzhou, Zhejiang province. The facility is scheduled to be completed by 2017, with a total investment worth 200 billion won ($166 million).“We decided to newly establish the facility following the rapid growth of the semiconductor and display sectors in China,” said Cho Hyun-joon, president of Hyosung.
NF3 is a powerful oxidant used for removing alien substances generated during massive production of liquid-crystal displays and silicon-based solar cells.
The company is also injecting roughly 100 billion won into its existing Korean facility in the southern city of Ulsan to enhance productivity.
