No more stalks
Published: 11 Apr. 2016, 20:31
Watermelons are sold at Nonghyup’s Hanaro Club in Yangje, southern Seoul, on Monday without the signature T-shaped stalk. The government earlier changed regulations to allow stalkless watermelons to be sold. Some Korean customers judge the freshness of the product by the stalk. Farmers complained that it was too much trouble to preserve the stalk, which doesn’t show freshness at all. [NEWSIS]
