Lotte to set up ‘Mom’s Lounge’ at stores for pregnant women

Lotte Department Store said on Monday that as part of its social responsibility activities it will focus its support in helping expectant mothers and prevention of child abuse.

The department store CEO Lee Won-joon signed an agreement with Minister of Gender Equality and Family Kang Eun-hee and Korea Green Foundation’s secretary general Lee Mi-kyung where the retailer will be setting up a “Mom’s Lounge” at 52 branches including its department stores and outlets so that pregnant women can rest.

Exclusive elevators only for pregnant women as well as mothers pushing baby strollers will also be available. In addition starting next month Lotte Department Store will be offering supplies as well as consulting services on child abuse at Community Child Centers.

Lotte Department Store’s culture centers will have curriculums that will help women who have had their career cut off due to child birth and child raising to become professional culture and literature lecturers.

The services are part of Lotte Group’s Chairman Shin Dong-bin’s larger campaign to help women to have better careers.
