KBS’s ‘Music Bank’ mixes up winning groups

K-pop girl group AOA won over newbie girl group Twice on the weekly TV music show “Music Bank” on Thursday, but broadcaster KBS said on Monday that it made some mistakes while calculating the album sales for each group and revealed that the actual winner for last week was Twice.

This is the first time a major TV music show has corrected the results.

Each week, the show evaluates the top two groups based on album sales, popularity votes, online music streaming and other factors.

KBS said the person in charge of tallying album sales made a mistake.

“We deeply apologize for causing concern,” KBS said in a press release. “We will try hard not to make similar mistakes in the future.”

The show also added that it would deliver the trophy to Twice soon.

“Music Bank” began airing in June 1998.
