The nation’s leading bakery chain said construction began on May 23 about 150 meters (490 feet) from exit 5 of Sinnonhyeon Station on subway line No. 9, with a temporary wooden fence enclosing the construction site.
The store is scheduled to open sometime in July.
The American burger chain has a history of using temporary fences as platforms to display public art by residents. The theme of its first art event in Gangnam District is “Meet Up, Power Up.”
SPC signed an exclusive license deal with Shake Shack Enterprise International last year for the Korean operation. The menu and price range are still under discussion, according to the Korean food giant.
