Korea’s No. 1 chipmaker said the Exynos 9 (9810) is based on second-generation 10-nanometer FinFET technology, and is optimized for premium smart devices as it boasts the industry’s most advanced long-term evolution (LTE) network modem.
A mobile AP can be considered the brain of a smartphone or tablet PC as it combines central, graphics and video processing units as well as a modem into one.
Samsung said the latest Exynos 9 comes with enhanced deep-learning and security features. It will also make devices sort files faster compared to the previous solution, helping users find photos quickly.
The 3D-scanning feature can allow the device to have accurate facial recognition, and it can also store biological data such as iris and fingerprint information safely through a separate processing unit.
The Exynos 9 comes with Samsung’s own Cat.18 6CA-based modem, boasting the industry’s top download speed of 1.2Gbps. The speed allows devices to download a 1.5-GB film in 10 seconds.
Industry watchers said the new AP may be applied on the presumed Galaxy S9 smartphone which is expected to set sail in the first half of 2018. The current Galaxy S8 phone came with the Exynos 9 (8895).
