Shinsegae to give 240M won in rewards to curling team

Korea’s retail giant Shinsegae said Friday it will provide 240 million won ($222,000) in rewards to the country’s curling team that participated in the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics.

The prize money will be given to 21 members of the national team, including 12 athletes and the coaching staff, the company said. The details for the delivery ceremony will be decided later.

Korea captured the silver medal in women’s curling at the PyeongChang Winter Games, which ended Sunday. It was the country’s first ever Olympic medal in the sport.

Shinsegae signed a sponsorship agreement with the Korea Curling Federation in 2012 as part of its efforts to expand the game’s boundaries
