Verne Troyer, ‘Austin Powers’ star, dead at 49
Actor Verne Troyer, best known for playing Mini-Me in the “Austin Powers” film series, died on Saturday at the age of 49.The news broke on the actor’s Facebook page on Sunday. A post read, “It is with great sadness and incredibly heavy hearts to write that Verne passed away today.” They explained how hard Troyer worked and how he tried to show everyone his capabilities as an actor and as a man, despite his small stature.
The post also alluded to the possibilities of Troyer’s death being the result of a suicide. “Depression and suicide are very serious issues. You never know what kind of battle someone is going through inside. Be kind to one another,” said the post.
The actor’s most well-known films are the “Austin Powers” series, “Men in Black” and “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.”
