Shin Sung-rok gets injured on set

Actor Shin Sung-rok suffered an injury on set Tuesday while filming the currently airing SBS series “The Last Empress.”

According to his agency HB Entertainment on Wednesday, Shin fractured his toes on Tuesday, which meant that he needed surgery on Wednesday morning. However, he will be filming again today as scheduled.

The series features the story of O Sseo-ni, a bright musical actor played by actor Jang Na-ra, who gets married to Lee Hyuk, the emperor of the Korean Empire (1897-1910), played by Shin. There, she fights against the absolute power of the emperor, and in the process, she falls in love with a bodyguard of the imperial family. Despite his handsome appearance, Lee is actually a corrupt figure who only cares about his power.

Shin, who made his debut as an actor in 2003, is perhaps known for his antagonist roles in the SBS series “My Love from Another Star” (2013-14) and “Return” (2018).
