Nam Tae-hyun bows out of musical

Singer Nam Tae-hyun “took responsibility” for his actions in accordance with a handwritten letter he posted on the weekend by dropping out from his lead role in the musical “Mefisto,” the musical’s production company Makers Production revealed on Monday.

Without citing specific reasons, the company stated that “Nam is stepping down from his role in the musical due to unexpected circumstances.”

The mishap arose when Jang Jae-in, a fellow musician and Nam’s former girlfriend, posted screen captures of Nam’s texts with an anonymous woman as evidence of him cheating on her on her Instagram. The woman had reached out to Jang saying, “I wouldn’t have dated him if I’d known he and you were still together.”

Nam posted a handwritten apology on Instagram on Saturday morning, saying he “sincerely feels sorry for hurting Jang and the other woman’s feelings.” He also apologized to his fans for letting them down. Although he appeared in the musical over the weekend, it appears he stepped down from the role after receiving severe criticisms online.

Nam was supposed to appear in the musical until June 26. He was cast in the lead role of the musical, which is an adaptation of the famous German play “Faust” written by Goethe.
