Lee Min-woo indicted on charges

Lee Min-woo, member of the veteran boy band Shinhwa, was indicted without detention on Wednesday on suspicions of groping two women at a bar in Gangnam, southern Seoul.

One of the victims reported to the police on June 29 that Lee had “forcefully held both sides of my cheeks and kissed my lips.” However, the woman soon dropped the charges and Lee’s agency, Liveworks Company, stated that both sides had come to a “mutual understanding.”

Nevertheless, the police stated that they would continue to investigate the case and summoned Lee for questioning on Sunday.

Lee reportedly said, “[the act] was a way to show friendliness and I may have gotten carried away, but there was no other intention behind it.”

“We’ve looked into the restaurant’s CCTV and considered it to be an indictable offense even without the accusation from the victim,” said the police.

Korean law states that crimes related to sexual offenses can be investigated by police even if the victim does not make a report to either the police or prosecution.
