Jin Air gets into the cargo transportation business

In the absence of passengers, Jin Air is using its medium and large passenger planes to transport cargo, the low-cost air carrier announced Monday.

The airline, affiliated with the national flagship carrier Korean Air, will load its B777-200ER aircraft traveling between Incheon and Taipei with clothes, electronic devices and other cargo through April 13.

The aircraft are able to control temperature and humidity, according to the budget carrier.

“[Jin Air] will overcome the challenging management environment by discovering all sources of possible revenue and cutting down costs,” the airline said in a statement on Monday.
