Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Kun-hee was laid to rest on Wednesday at a family burial site in Suwon, Gyeonggi.

삼성전자 이건희 회장이 수요일 경기도 수원에 있는 가족 장지에 영면했다.

Lee died on Sunday at 78 years old, six years after being hospitalized following a heart attack in 2014.

2014년 심근경색 발발 이후 6년 동안 병원에 입원해있던 이건희 회장은 일요일 78세의 나이로 세상을 떠났다.

A funeral ceremony for the late business titan began at 7:30 a.m. at Samsung Medical Center in southern Seoul, attended by Lee's wife Hong Ra-hee, eldest son Lee Jae-yong and two daughters Lee Boo-jin and Lee Seo-hyun.

돌아가신 한국 산업의 거인에 대한 영결식은 아내인 홍라희씨와 큰 아들인 이재용, 두 딸인 이부진, 이서현씨가 참석한 가운데 서울 삼성서울병원에서 오전 7시30분에 시작됐다.

Other relatives present included Lee's younger sister Lee Myung-hee and her son Chung Yong-jin, and CJ Group Chairman Lee Jay-hyun, who is Lee’s nephew.

이건희 회장의 여동생인 이명희씨와 그녀의 아들인 정용진씨, 그리고 이 회장의 조카인 CJ그룹 이재현 회장 등 다른 친척들도 참석했다.

Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Euisun Chung was also present at the funeral before the coffin was moved to the burial site.

En route to the burial site, the hearse carrying the coffin first traveled north through Seoul, passing by Lee's house in Hannam-dong, central Seoul, the nearly Leeum Museum of Art and Seungjiwon, a traditional building originally constructed as the home of the late Lee Byungchull, founder of Samsung Group and father of Lee Kunhee, and later used as the younger Lee's office.

장지로 가는 중에 이 회장을 실은 영구차는 서울 북부지역으로 먼저 향하여 한남동 자택과 근처에 있는 리움미술관과 승지원을 들렀다. 승지원은 삼성그룹 창업자이자 이건희 회장의 아버지인 선대 이병철 회장의 집으로 지어졌던 전통 건물로 후에 이건희 회장의 집무실로 사용됐다.

After heading south out of Seoul, the hearse also drove past a chip complex in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi, symbolizing Lee's achievement of transforming Samsung into a top memory chipmaker. The hearse stopped at the Line-16 production line at the plant, as the late businessman was known to have a special attachment to the memory chip facility.

서울 남쪽으로 향한 영구차는 경기도 화성에 있는 반도체 단지를 지나갔다. 이곳은 삼성을 최고의 메모리 반도체 생산업체로 탈바꿈 시킨 이건희 회장의 업적을 상징하는 장소다. 영구차는 고인이 특별한 애착을 갖고 있는 것으로 알려진 16라인 반도체 공장에 멈췄다.

Some of Lee's last public appearances before his hospitalization centered around the production line, including a groundbreaking ceremony in 2010 and an event celebrating the mass production of semiconductor wafers there in 2011.

이건희 회장이 입원하기 전 마지막으로 대중에 모습을 드러냈던 곳은 생산라인에 집중돼 있다. 2010년 착공식과 2011년 반도체 웨이퍼 양산 축하 행사였다.

The family members who came out to express their gratitude during the brief stop were met by thousands of Samsung employees, workers from partnered companies and even residents from the region.

운구 행렬이 잠깐 멈춘 사이에 유가족들은 차에서 내려 수천명의 직원들과 협력업체 근로자들, 그리고 지역 주민들에게 감사를 표했다.

The mourners held chrysanthemums in remembrance of the deceased chairman.
