GS retail and KT to work together on logistics optimization

GS Retail is developing a logistics system using KT technology and services.

Over a two-month period, the company will utilize solutions from the telecom company at logistics centers in Goyang, Gyeonggi, and Jeju Island to optimize routes and schedules for cargo delivery. A map with all the relevant information will be provided to the delivery personnel’s account on a mobile application.

The logistics optimization service will inform the delivery workers of the ideal delivery route based on a range of information, including the real-time traffic situation, amount of cargo and the dimensions of the cargo truck. The system will also take into account the schedule of each branch.

The two companies set a goal of building an efficient logistics system by analyzing data using the telecom company’s technology. They will also work together on electric vehicles.

GS Retail has 15,000 offline stores and operates an e-commerce business. It has carried out drone deliveries and runs unmanned convenience stores. KT has developed software for logistics optimization.

GS retail says the work with KT will have a positive impact on all its businesses.
