Kim Hyun-sook, of 'Ugly Miss Young-ae,' getting divorced
Actor Kim Hyun-sook, who is widely recognized as Lee Young-ae from tvN drama series "Ugly Miss Young-ae," is getting a divorce, Elrise Entertainment said on Wednesday.
"Kim is in the process of settling a divorce," her agency confirmed. "They are separating due to differences in their personalities. Kim will get custody of their son."
The actor married her non-celebrity husband in 2014, and they appeared together earlier this year on TV Chosun's married couple-centered reality show "Taste of Wife."
Kim debuted as a stage actor in 2004 and gained popularity as a comedian in KBS comedy show "Gag Concert" in 2005. She is best known for her role as Lee Young-ae in "Ugly Miss Young-ae," which ran from 2007 to 2019 and was one of Korea's longest running shows.
The show won over the viewers for depicting a normal white-collar worker who doesn't fit conventional beauty standards. Her most recent appearance was in MBC drama series "Dinner Mate" (2020).
